Deadpool and Wolverine
A new teaser has been released for Deadpool and Wolverine to announce the release of the next trailer on Monday, April 22. Also released is a new poster that spoofs a poster for Logan, the last film to feature Hugh Jackman in the role of Wolverine.
Deadpool and Wolverine star Ryan Reynolds shared the new teaser on Sunday. It includes footage of a Logan action figure impaled along with footage from Logan. Voiceovers of Reynolds as Wade Wilson feature the character teasing Jackman’s Logan that he’s going to have Wolverine “get back into the saddle again,” urging him to say yes when that time comes. The teaser concludes with a brief shot of Wolverine, in his yellow suit, walking toward the camera, though it’s blurred, obscuring the sneak peek at the character’s return. The trailer can be watched below.
The poster that was released for the film also pokes some fun at Logan. In an original Logan poster, Jackman’s arm can be seen, with claws extended, as Dafne Keen’s X-23 holds his hand. The new Deadpool & Wolverine poster similarly features Jackman’s arm, as Reynolds’ Deadpool gently touches one of Logan’s claws.
Deadpool & Wolverine Is Not a Deadpool 2 Sequel
“As far as crafting the Deadpool & Wolverine story, I just felt privileged every day because you’re talking about two massive movie stars in their most iconic roles,” director Shawn Levy recently told Screen Rant about the film, emphasizing that this isn’t considered to be a direct Deadpool 2 sequel. “It also gave me an opportunity. It’s the third Deadpool movie, but it’s not Deadpool 3. It’s a different thing that’s very much Deadpool & Wolverine. And it’s not trying to copycat anything from the first two movies. They were awesome, but this is a two-hander character adventure.”
While not a direct sequel, the film does feature some Deadpool stars returning to reprise their roles from the previous films. That includes Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Rob Delaney (Peter), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Stefan Kapičić (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Lewis Tan (Shatterstar).
Emma Corrin will be playing the movie’s antagonist, Cassandra Nova. There are also endless rumors about other characters and actors who might be appearing in the sequel. Among them is pop star Taylor Swift, who recently fueled speculation that she’d be appearing as Dazzler with a curious line from her newest album.
Deadpool & Wolverine will be released in movie theaters on July 26, 2024.
