Arsenal dominated the first half but struggled to break through the Cherriesโ€™ defense until the dying minutes of the opening period.

Havertz was adjudged fouled inside the box by goalkeeper Mark Travers, leading to a penalty for Arsenal.

The former Chelsea man seemed to have purposely left a leg to initiate contact with the Bournemouth goalkeeper.

But after VAR review, the decision stood, and Bukayo Saka confidently converted the spot-kick to give Arsenal the lead just before halftime.

Controversy ensued in the second half as Bournemouth had a goal disallowed due to a contentious foul on goalkeeper David Raya.

Despite a lengthy VAR review, the goal was not awarded to Bournemouth.

The Gunners went ahead to score twice in the half, with goals from Trossard and Rice.
